The 21st Festival of Lights, which annually transforms numerous buildings and squares of the autumnal metropolis into a dazzling display of vivid, rich colors, will take place from October 8 to October 15. Once again, under the patronage of Berlin’s Governing Mayor, Kai Wegner.
This year, the motto of the Festival of Lights is simple and concise: “Let’s Shine Together.” The phrase itself is not unique; it has long been used by various organizations, foundations, and platforms in many countries. Depending on context, its meaning may vary in emotional nuance. Still, “Let’s Shine Together” is a clear call for unity and mutual understanding, grounded in support and inspiring friendship.
Once again, Berlin’s landmarks, popular and prestigious places, historic streets, vibrant districts, and boulevards will be illuminated nightly from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM with enchanting light shows, installations, and performances.
Experienced festival-goers already know the most spectacular highlights, including:
The Berlin Cathedral (Am Lustgarten, 10178 Berlin) will become a “creative stage” for musical and visual performances as part of the “Festival of Lights in Concert,” where music and light merge. International artists will participate.
The Bebelplatz (Unter den Linden, 10117 Berlin) will dazzle with colorful light projections blending seamlessly with its mix of Palladian, Baroque, Neoclassical, and Rococo architecture, accompanied by music.
At Potsdamer Platz (10785 Berlin), another key location, visitors can immerse themselves in a variety of spectacular light installations.
Additionally, the Brandenburg Gate, Berlin TV Tower, Victory Column “Goldelse”, Dom Aquaree, and many other landmarks will be focal points of attraction.
Admission to the festival is free.
